Frequently Asked Questions

We have had a groundswell of interest in our 4th Annual Executive Compensation Conference. Below are some frequently asked questions:

Problems with the Online CLE Tracking Tool – If you have registered for video webcast attendance to any of our three Conferences this week, please be aware that we are experiencing some difficulties with our new online tracking tool. Rest assured that you can still earn CLE credit if your state bar has accredited our program (most states have).

If you are experiencing problems, simply send us (1) the name(s) of any lawyers who watch the Conference, (2) list which Conferences were watched, (3) the state bars for which CLE is sought, and (4) the bar numbers for those states. We will be sending out CLE certifications in about a month or so. We apologize for any inconvenience.
  1. Can I receive the member discount on conference rates if someone else at my company/firm is a member of CompensationStandards.com?

No. You can only receive the member discount if you have your own single user membership or are at a company/firm that has an Unlimited or Firmwide license that provides you with access to CompensationStandards.com.

For example, if you work in an office that is covered by either an unlimited or firmwide license to CompensationStandards.com – you are eligible for the member discount to attend live or by webcast. However, if someone in your office has a single membership and you don’t – you need to become a member yourself to receive the member discount.

If you are uncertain as to whether you are a member of CompensationStandards.com, send us an email at info@compensationstandards.com and we can let you know.

  2. What is the schedule and who will be speaking at the Executive Compensation Conference?

Here is the Agenda. Those that pay to attend live in San Francisco will be able to access the video archive of those panels when they return to the office. (For more on accessing the panels at a later time, see Q&A #7.)

Those that attended last year’s highly acclaimed conference know the caliber of the content and that we carefully select our speakers so that practical guidance is the order of the day. This year’s conference will be even more practical and will be critical for every director (and advisor) to attend.

  3. How much does the Executive Compensation Conference Cost?

Our pricing is available here. Note that we have priced this conference to encourage the largest possible attendance and members of CompensationStandards.com can attend at less than half the regular rate!  It’s not too late to become a member of CompensationStandards.com to qualify for the member rate – and gain access to all the valuable information on this site.

Note that you can take advantage of our "Member Appreciation Package" to get a steeply discounted rate to attend these three Conferences – either in person in San Francisco or by video webcast – on October 9-11:

    • “Tackling Your 2008 Compensation Disclosures: The 2nd Annual Proxy Disclosure Conference”
    • “Hot Topics and Practical Guidance Conference: The Corporate Counsel Speaks”
    • “4th Annual Executive Compensation Conference”

If you need any assistance, please contact us at info@compensationstandards.com or 925.685.5111 (note this is a West Coast phone number, operative between 8 am – 4 pm West Coast time).

  4. Why does my company/firm need a Firmwide users license?

With the stakes so high now, many companies and law firms are taking advantage of the Firmwide no-risk trial—so that all your outside directors and staff can access the many resources on CompensationStandards.com NOW. (Even if you have an existing membership to CompensationStandards.com, you can upgrade to a firmwide license and enable all your outside directors and staff to access this crucial program; you will receive a credit for any money you have already paid).

  5. Will my NASPP ID and password work for CompensationStandards.com?

No. Naspp.com is for NASPP members and CompensationStandards.com is for members of CompensationStandards.com.

However, those that paid to attend the NASPP Annual Conference in San Francisco will be free to attend any – or all – of the live panels from the 4th Annual Executive Compensation Conference (but will be unable to access the video archive when they return to the office unless they pay separately for the 4th Annual Executive Compensation Conference).

  6. If I paid to attend the NASPP Annual Conference in San Francisco, can I attend the 4th Annual Executive Compensation Conference?

Yes, those that paid to attend the NASPP Annual Conference in San Francisco will be free to attend any – or all – of the live panels from the 4th Annual Executive Compensation Conference (but will be unable to access the video archive when they return to the office unless they pay separately for the 4th Annual Executive Compensation Conference).

  7. If I attend the Executive Compensation Conference in San Francisco, will I have access to the video archives of the conference when I return to my office?

Yes, if you paid for the Executive Compensation Conference and attended live in San Francisco or via webcast, you will have access to the video archives – so you can go back and watch/listen to the conference at any time until September 30, 2008 (unless you decide to renew your membership to CompensationStandards.com for 2008; then, you would continue to have access to the video archive).

However, those that paid to attend the NASPP Annual Conference in San Francisco – even though they are free to attend any of the live panels from the 4th Annual Executive Compensation Conference – will be unable to access the video archive when they return to the office (unless they pay separately for the 4th Annual Executive Compensation Conference).

  8. What if I can’t listen to the Executive Compensation Conference because I am too busy that day?

We will be archiving every single minute of the Executive Compensation Conference – so you can go back and watch/listen to the conference at any time until September 30, 2008 (unless you decide to renew your membership to CompensationStandards.com for 2008; then, you would continue to have access to the video archive).

  9. Can I pay for the 4th Annual Executive Compensation Conference even though I am not a member of CompensationStandards.com?

Sure. But note that it costs less to pay for both the conference and a membership than to pay the non-member conference rates. We believe that nearly all members of CompensationStandards.com will decide to attend the conference either in San Francisco or by video webcast.

You should note that this conference is priced so that it’s cheaper than any other comparable conference rate we can find, because we truly want responsible practices to be implemented as soon – and as widely – as possible!

  10. Can I earn continuing education credit for attending the conference?

Lawyers can earn CLE for most states if they attend live – and even earn credit in certain states if they attend by video webcast. Here is a list of the states in which this program is accredited.

In addition, if they attend live in San Francisco or by video webcast, directors can earn continuing education credit as this program is accredited by ISS.

Unfortunately, no CPE credits are available for attending the 4th Annual Executive Compensation Conference.

  11. Can directors earn credit from ISS if they attend the Executive Compensation Conference?

Yes. If they attend live in San Francisco or by video webcast, directors can earn continuing education credit as this program is accredited by ISS. To obtain credit, you will just need to let ISS know which directors attended the Conference.

  12. If I already registered for the video webcast of the Conference and now want to attend live in San Francisco, what do I need to do?

Just contact our Headquarters at 925.685.5111 or info@compensationstandards.com and our Staff will apply the money you paid for a single license to the video webcast to the registration rate applicable for San Francisco attendance. Even when you attend in San Francisco, you still will have access to the archives of the video webcast until September 30, 2008.

Note that if your company/firm paid for a firmwide or unlimited license to the video webcast, you are unable to apply the money paid for those licenses for attendance in San Francisco. Only money paid for a single license in your name can be used to upgrade to a San Francisco registration.

  13. If my company/firm paid for a firmwide (or unlimited) license to the video webcast, am I able to apply the money already paid for that license so I can attend in San Francisco?

No. Only money paid for a single license in your name can be used to upgrade to a San Francisco registration. The rationale is that others in your company/firm will still benefit from being able to attend via video webcast, which was priced at very reasonable rates - so a new registration for attending in San Francisco will need to be made in your name.

  14. What is your cancellation policy?

Full refunds are available if you notify us before August 1st. A 50% refund is available if you notify us before September 1st. After September 1st, there will be no refunds permitted.
